Learning the History of Cristo Rey

Richard W. Miller, the late husband of BSP resident Bernadette Miller, was a founder of Cristo Rey Kansas City – a private, Catholic, college-prep high school for students with economic need. Miller’s vision and determination brought awareness of this model of education to Kansas City, and he inspired civic leaders to provide the necessary financial resources to establish and maintain school operations. Miller also tirelessly urged business leaders to employ students through the Corporate Work Study Program. Along with several other nonprofits he helped found, what a difference he made to so many in our city! BSP residents enjoyed an interactive presentation by Rebecca Summers, director of institutional advancement at Cristo Rey, who shared about Cristo Rey’s beginnings and Richard Miller’s important contributions to its history.
