Granddaughter of Presidential Medal of Honor Recipient
In 1944, President Roosevelt signed the GI Bill. Kansas resident and former national commander of the American Legion Harry W. Colmery wrote the initial proposal longhand because he didn't want veterans to face unemployment and poverty.
This past week, Colmery's granddaughter Mina Steen came to Bishop Spencer Place to discuss the legacy that led to her grandfather winning the Presidential Medal of Honor. #VeteransDay
