Independent Living Social Services
Special social services include:
- Assisting new residents and their families with the transition to our retirement community
- Providing professional and objective perspective by sorting through changing needs that may make it difficult for family and/or residents to recognize limitations
- Setting up support services to meet changing needs of residents
- Determining and facilitating change if a new level of care – such as assisted living or long-term care – is needed
- Visiting residents in the hospital to advocate for health care needs and provide companionship, as well as helping with discharge and planning coordination
- Supporting both residents and families in crisis, grief, and loss
- Helping to resolve and find solutions and/or compromise to community living and family conflicts
Meet Sharon
Unique to Bishop Spencer Place and separate from the social workers in our health care areas, we have a dedicated independent living coordinator, Sharon Pace. This invaluable service is offered as a benefit to help our aging apartment residents stay independent for as long as possible. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and with over 20 years experience at Bishop Spencer Place, Sharon provides personalized care and attention to our residents during move-in and when needs change requiring a transition, as well as at other difficult times. She is an incredible resource to our independent living residents and to our community.
