Bishop’s Garden

Enjoy the beautiful Bishop’s Garden—a breathtaking oasis nestled in the courtyard at Saint Luke’s Bishop Spencer Place, right in the heart of Kansas City. At it’s springtime peak, residents can sit or walk among magnolia, hydrangea, azalea, red maples, climbing rose, peonies, crabapple trees, flowering dogwoods, a variety of hosta, iris, boxwood, and more, flanked by an aromatic herb garden utilized by our own chefs.

Canterbury Dining Room

The Canterbury Dining Room provides an elegant backdrop take out for five-star dining for the evening meal and Sunday brunch. Our partner, PB&J Restaurants, offer an extensive menu that is refreshed quarterly. Enjoy dining with friends or family in our lovely window-lined restaurant overlooking the Bishops Garden Monday through Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.,  and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Bistro

The Bistro serves casual dining fare all day–for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between. A variety of soups, sandwiches, and specials are prepared by PB&J Restaurants while you wait. Bistro hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Vern’s Pub

Residents enjoy happy hour seven-days-a-week in Vern’s Pub at Saint Luke’s Bishop Spencer Place retirement community. Residents make popcorn, cheer on both local sports teams and watch national sporting events, engage in conversation, have wine, beer or a cocktail, Monday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Madison Living Room

This comfortable space serves as a gathering place for residents, friends, and families, an entertainment venue, and a cozy spot to read by the fire. We are often fortunate to enjoy beautiful and varied music in the Madison Room, from the Lyric Opera to Kansas City’s jazz greats to vocalists sharing their interpretations of ‘the standards.’

Madison Lobby

Our warm and friendly concierge greets residents, staff, and guests alike in the Madison building lobby. This main entrance is at the corner of Southwest Trafficway and 43rd Street.

The Chapel of the Epiphany

The beautiful Chapel of the Epiphany at Saint Luke’s Bishop Spencer Place holds services for various denominations each week. Episcopal Eucharistic services are Sundays at 10 a.m.; Catholic Mass is every other week; and Rosary is each week. We serve and welcome all faiths at Bishop Spencer Place.

Jefferson Lobby

Concierges provide hospitality services for residents and guests in the main lobby of the Jefferson independent living building. Make yourself comfortable in cushy couches and chairs, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea from our coffee bar, and warm up by the fireplace when it’s chilly outside. Additionally, you can enjoy a movie with other residents at a weekly movie night.

If you have decided to move to Bishop Spencer Place, but your preferred apartment floor plan style isn’t available, you may join our Club Spencer Anticipation Program. This exclusive future residents program allows you to reserve the apartment style of your choice while you begin enjoying some of the benefits of living at Bishop Spencer Place. You’ll have the chance to meet your future neighbors, enjoy meals in our casual Bistro or full-service Canterbury Dining Room twice a month, take part in community activities and outings, and become acclimated to life at Bishop Spencer Place. Once your apartment of choice is available, we will call you according to your spot on the wait list. Currently, we have future residents enjoying the benefits of our Club Spencer program, but we also have apartments available if you’d like to move in now!
